The main commercial street in Sundre is also a major western Alberta highway, with significant related traffic and parking issues. The intent of this project was to develop an overall development strategy for the corridor, to propose guidelines for character retention in three distinct sections of the corridor, and to resolve several practical circulation and servicing issues. We proposed an innovative strategy of form-based zoning to more effectively guide architecture, site planning and landscape that would reflect the character and context of Sundre.
