The location, distribution and intensity of land uses such as farming, ranching, oil and gas activities, recreation, and transportation, cumulatively influence water and soil quantity and quality around several southern Alberta irrigation reservoirs. This project determined the appropriate land uses and developments that would respond to issues of sustainability and water supply within the context of the natural and cultural landscape, and it raised additional questions about climate change and land use planning.
